I travel to Las Vegas at least once per month to play blackjack, and other table games, at the casino. I play basic blackjack strategy for the most part. Although even that varies for some. For example, I always split 4's against a dealer 5 or 6. Some strategy charts say never to split 4's (I totally disagree). Every now and again I will deviate though, like maybe we will get a little crazy and split our 4's against a dealer 4. Also, please note, when I talk about the "correct" play, please note that I am looking at each hand as a whole in and of itself. I think, generally speaking, this is the mindset of most average basic strategy players. With that said, please note that there could be a "better" play based on card counts and/or shoe composition. BUT, for the purpose of my channel, we are almost (I say almost because sometimes I'll press my bet if I see lots of small cards come out in hopes of seeing some big ones on the next hand.) exclusively looking at each hand and considering only the cards on the table - not the previously played and discarded. 😊👍 My hope is that you will enjoy watching my blackjack play (or as some call it, 21 casino card game) and maybe even learn to play blackjack or even sharpen your skills through watching my big wins and losses. But, hopefully you will see lots of WINNING Blackjack Sessions. Sometimes we will play blackjack with side bets and sometimes without side bets. Sometimes we will play six deck shoes and other times double deck blackjack. We usually play blackjack in Las Vegas but also play in Colorado and Reno. OUR LAST LOOK AT THE MIRAGE BEFORE IT GOES AWAY... FOR OUR STROLL AT THE MIRAGE, WE WERE STUNNED BY THE BEAUTIFUL AQUARIUM IN THE HOTEL LOBBY. WE HAVE BEEN HERE MANY TIMES BUT NEVER CAN GET OVER THE SIZE OF THAT AQUARIUM. WE WALKED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE CROWDED CASINO FLOOR AREA HIGHLIGHTED BY THE SCENIC MIRAGE WATERFALL AND INDOOR TROPICAL FOREST DISPLAY TO THE BEATLES LOVE THEATRE BY CIRQUE DU SOLEIL. WE PASSED MANY RESTAURANTS AND OTHER SHOW ATTRACTIONS LIKE SHIN LIM FROM AMERICAS GOT TALENT AND THE COMEDY ACES WITH VARIOUS FAMOUS COMEDIANS LIKE DAVID SPADE, RAY RAMANO, BILL MAHER, AND OTHERS. WE MADE OUR WAY INTO THE SHOPPING AREA WHILE NOT AS LARGE AS SOME OTHER HOTELS, AT LEAST IT OFFERES SOME SHOPPING AND SNACKS INSIDE. WE ALSO WENT OUT TO SEE THE INFAMOUS VOLCANO ATTRACTION AND GOT AN UP-CLOSE VIEW OF THE SHOW AND FELT THE HEAT FROM THE FLAMES. THIS IS ALSO GOING AWAY WHEN THEY BUILD THE NEW HOTEL. AT THE END, WE WERE A BIT SADDENED THAT THIS IS ALL GOING TO BE GONE SOON. IT IS SAD TO SEE OLD HOTELS GO AS MUCH AS IT IS EXCITING TO SEE NEW ONES BUILT, BUT WE HAVE BEEN HERE MANY TIMES. THE HARD ROCK IS TAKING OVER AND WILL BE DEMOLISHING PART OF THE ORIGINAL MIRAGE BUT MORE DETAILS TO COME ABOUT THAT AS THE NEWS CHANGES CONSTANTLY ON THE PLANS. THE MIRAGE IS A CASINO RESORT ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP. THE RESORT OPENED ON NOVEMBER 22, 1989, AFTER TWO YEARS OF CONSTRUCTION. IT WAS THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE RESORT, COMPLETED AT A COST OF $630 MILLION. IT WAS ALSO AMONG THE WORLD'S LARGEST HOTELS. THE MIRAGE WAS THE FIRST MEGARESORT TO OPEN ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP, AND ITS SUCCESS PROMPTED A BUILDING BOOM IN THE 1990S FOR OTHER LARGE RESORTS ALONG THE STRIP. THE MIRAGE OPENED WITH SEVERAL NON-TRADITIONAL ATTRACTIONS FOR A LAS VEGAS CASINO. FEATURES INCLUDE ANIMAL HABITATS FOR DOLPHINS AND TIGERS, AND AN INDOOR TROPICAL FOREST DISPLAY. ITS PRIMARY ATTRACTION IS AN ARTIFICIAL VOLCANO THAT ERUPTS NIGHTLY, PROVIDING FREE ENTERTAINMENT IN FRONT OF THE RESORT. IN 2021, HARD ROCK INTERNATIONAL ANNOUNCED THAT IT WOULD PURCHASE THE MIRAGE AND CONVERT IT INTO THE HARD ROCK LAS VEGAS. THE PROPERTY WILL RECEIVE A COMPLETE RENOVATION WHICH WILL INCLUDE A NEW GUITAR-SHAPED HOTEL TOWER, TAKING THE PLACE OF THE VOLCANO ATTRACTION. THE SALE IS EXPECTED TO CLOSE IN THE SECOND HALF OF 2022, AND MGM WILL LICENSE THE "MIRAGE" NAME TO HARD ROCK WHILE RENOVATIONS TAKE PLACE. HARD ROCK LAS VEGAS IS EXPECTED TO OPEN IN 2025. HARD ROCK ALSO INTENDS TO CONSTRUCT A 1,000-ROOM GUITAR-SHAPED HOTEL TOWER ON THE PROPERTY, LIKE THE SEMINOLE HARD ROCK IN FLORIDA. THE NEW TOWER WILL REPLACE THE MIRAGE'S VOLCANO. IT BECAME A SIGNATURE ATTRACTION FOR LAS VEGAS. THE VOLCANO, FREE TO THE PUBLIC AND VISIBLE TO PEDESTRIANS, ERUPTS REGULARLY EACH NIGHT. GAS JETS PROVIDE THE FLAMES FOR THE VOLCANO, WHICH HAS WATER FLOWING DOWN ITS SIDES INTO A LAGOON, COVERING 4.5 ACRES. NATURAL GAS PIPES, EIGHT INCHES IN WIDTH, ARE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH A RECIRCULATING SYSTEM TO GIVE THE APPEARANCE THAT THE LAGOON IS ON FIRE. IN ADDITION, WHITEWATER FROM THE VOLCANO IS COVERED IN RED LIGHTING TO SIMULATE LAVA. ANIMAL HABITATS A $14 MILLION DOLPHIN HABITAT OPENED AT THE MIRAGE ON OCTOBER 19, 1990, SERVING AS AN EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH CENTER. Pasamos cerca de la Parroquia San Miguelito, ubicada en plena 3ª Avenida Sur, un espacio espiritual muy querido por los vecinos. Continuamos por puntos conocidos como la clásica Panadería Lucha, reconocida por generaciones enteras, y fuimos descubriendo la vida comunitaria que sigue presente en este barrio fundado a inicios del siglo XX. Finalizamos el recorrido en un lugar imponente y lleno de historia: las ruinas del Casino Militar Centroamericano, una joya arquitectónica de 1906 que fue afectada durante el conflicto armado y hoy permanece como símbolo de una época pasada.
